Meridian Studios is an architecture firm with forty years of heritage and a vision that extends far into the future. Their existing brand communicated history but failed to convey the progressive thinking that defines their current practice.
The Challenge
Meridian needed a brand identity that honored their legacy without being defined by it. The firm had recently brought on a new generation of partners, each bringing contemporary perspectives on sustainable design, adaptive reuse, and community-centered architecture. The brand needed to reflect this evolution.
Our Approach
We began with a comprehensive brand audit, interviewing partners, associates, and past clients to understand the firm’s essence. Three themes emerged consistently: precision, warmth, and forward thinking.
Visual Identity
The wordmark draws from architectural drafting traditions — precise, geometric letterforms with subtle humanistic touches that prevent clinical coldness. The logotype uses a custom-drawn serif that balances authority with approachability.
The color palette moves beyond the typical architectural firm territory of grey and white. Deep violet establishes gravity and distinction, while a warm stone palette ensures accessibility and warmth across applications.
Brand System
We developed a modular brand system that works across scale — from embossed business cards to large-format project signage. The system includes:
- Custom typography pairing guidelines
- A photographic art direction framework
- Digital templates for proposals and presentations
- Environmental graphics specifications
- Social media content templates
The Result
The rebrand positioned Meridian Studios as a firm that understands both craft and culture. Within six months, qualified project inquiries increased by 42%, and the firm was shortlisted for three major institutional commissions.
More importantly, the partners reported that the new identity gave them a clearer language for articulating their values to prospective clients. The brand became a tool for communication, not just decoration.
